SAFENET – a project on online safety for young people
The Internet has become a space where we learn, communicate, and spend a significant part of our time. But do we always know how to use it safely? That is precisely why the SAFENET project – Safety and Awareness for Everyone on the NET – was created. The initiative was developed by students of the Faculty of Engineering Management at Poznan University of Technology, together with a high school student from the “School in the Cloud.” A scholarship holder of our program, Natalia Iwaniuk, is also actively involved in carrying out promotional activities. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness among young people about online threats and to show how to use the Internet wisely and responsibly.
The project is under the patronage of the Poznań District Governor, Jan Grabkowski, and is actively supported by the Poznań District Office. Project partners include: Poznań District, the Poznan University of Technology Development Foundation, the ING Children’s Foundation, the European Economic Fund Tomasz Andrzejewski, Komputronik, PrintClub Printing House, and Dominique Moda.
We collaborate with schools from the Poznań district and the city of Poznań, including: the J. and W. Zamoyski School Complex in Rokietnica, the Jan Brzechwa Primary School, the Natural Sciences School Complex in Poznań, and the Tadeusz Staniewski II General Secondary School in Swarzędz.
The project focuses on the most common issues Internet users may encounter, such as cyberbullying, phishing, data theft, identity theft, and disinformation. It demonstrates how to recognize dangerous situations online and how to respond in order to protect oneself and others.
As part of the project, educational materials and social media content are being developed to present real-life examples of online threats in an accessible way, along with practical guidance on how to deal with them.
We encourage you to follow the SAFENET project on social media, where interesting facts, tips, and educational materials related to online safety are regularly published.
We also invite you to complete a survey and test your knowledge about online safety.
