It is perfectly located, well connected, and very economically attractive; it also boasts fantastic tourist attractions. It is a destination of choice for many people in search of a better place to live. The county consists of 17 very prosperous communes which are also extremely enticing business areas. It is located between Berlin and Warsaw, along an important trade route. The A2 motorway crossing the communes of Buk, Dopiewo, Komorniki, Luboń, Kórnik and Kleszczewo, coupled with expressways, increase the county’s attractiveness for potential investors.
The county offers excellent logistical and scientific facilities: science and technology parks as well as business environment institutions. The communes surrounding the city of Poznań provide stable business conditions and extensive infrastructure. The impressive economic growth positively impacts the regularly extended and modernised road system, spatial management, the renovation of educational and care facilities, and the county hospital. As a result, the residents have better access to a wide range of social services, culture and sport. While this requires work and a considerable outlay, it gives the county reasons to be proud.
For years, Poznań county has been among the top counties in Poland. This position stems from a long-term strategy and close cooperation based on so-called “agglomeration thinking”. As part of the activities of the Poznań Metropolis Association, initiatives are taken to serve the residents of the region. Common goals are pursued within the Integrated Territorial Investments covering, among other things, the provision of traffic junctions, education, health and social care, public and e-services. The establishment of the Poznań Metropolitan Railway, offering transport and environmental benefits, has been a spectacular success. It is one of the largest projects of its kind in Poland, enabling fast, inexpensive and comfortable travel within the metropolitan area.
The inter-commune “Wielkopolska Regional Transport” association, set up on the initiative of Jan Grabkowski, Poznań starost, also operates on the basis of solidarity. As a result, instead of dissolving the Poznań Car Transport Company, the local authorities have upgraded it to provide public transport integrated with the tariff of the Poznań Metropolitan Railway, and the Poznań City Transport Board. The association manages around 150 intercity lines, connecting Poznań with Międzychód, Nowy Tomyśl, Grodzisk Wielkopolski, Śrem and Gostyń, and county seats with towns in western Wielkopolska. The buses carry one million passengers a year. The association also renews its fleet to include environmentally friendly vehicles, comfortable and adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
Poznań county attaches great importance to education with considerable emphasis placed on vocational education. In 2018, a Vocational Training Centre (at the time the most modern teaching facility in Poland) was opened at School Complex No. 1 in Swarzędz. The local authority, as a leader in vocational education in Wielkopolska, offers excellent teaching conditions, teaching aids, support from inspired and passionate educators, and recognised companies (Solaris and Volkswagen) as content partners.
For years, the county has enjoyed a high pass rate for the secondary school exit and vocational qualification examinations. The adopted education model eliminates lack of experience as one of the main problems faced by graduates. They are qualified and perfectly prepared for the needs and expectations of the labour market.
The local government is also a pioneer of electronic services, providing the residents with high level services. The County Surveying and Cartographic Documentation Centre is the most modern unit of its kind in Poland, and second only to Warsaw in terms of the number of cases handled.
In order to ensure a good quality of life for the residents, the county takes safety to heart. Police stations, fire brigades and border guard units are subsidised, police cars and equipment purchased, renovations, modernisation and retrofitting of the units are supported. The financial assistance increases the rescue potential and guarantees that the operations are carried out safely. Over the past 25 years, the local government has allocated more than PLN 39 million for safety.
Poznań county makes excellent use of its potential for the benefit of the local community. It offers stability and provides opportunities for development. It is a good place to live and work.
